Example of code used above. It is a combination of Info Slide CSS and Multibox. You can actually use any of the info slide styles below just be sure to wrap with the 2 pages DIVs which are "pages_portfolio three" and if you want padding between each image the "pages_padding" DIV. Notice on the first DIV there is a "three". You can enter one, two, three, four, five and six depending on how many portfolio items you want on one row (Be sure to keep that space before the three too):

<div class="pages_portfolio three">
<div class="pages_padding">

Methodist participates in the works of Mercy

As United Methodist are called to be Christians of the Wesleyan Heritage to participate in Works of Mercy. So the Bible says in James 2:17 that “so faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. NRSV”

Examples of works of Mercy

  • Allowing women to exhort Christians and also preach the word of God.
  • Founding orphanages
  • Starting and operating schools
  • Lobbying Parliament to pass laws which are not against human rights-(slavery).
  • Visiting prisoners in prison and before hanging
  • Rejecting all forms of war
  • Condemning distillers of alcohol who sold to poor people

According to Philip Watson;

A British theologian summarizes Wesley’s message of God’s grace as follows:

  • All men need to be saved. Romans3:22-23, Mark 16:15-16
  • All men can be saved, John 3:16, Heb 7:25
  • All men can know that they are saved, 2Corr 5:14-15
  • All men can be saved to the uttermost, Ephesians 2:8, 1st Timothy 2:3-4

Thus, Wesley adopted a pragmatic organizational structure for nurture with these features:

The Methodist Societies

Wesley built up a structure that would sustain Methodism preaching ministry. The first Society was developed in Bristol. They were initially small groups who met weekly for:

  • Worship,
  • fellowship,
  • prayer and
  • instruction

It composed of members who had “the desire to flee away from the wrath to come” (Mtt3:7-8, Luke 3:7). The Methodist societies served as an rena for proclamation of the Gospel   and    the people to commit themselves as selves as followers of Christ.

The Church as Connection

United Methodist leaders often speak of the denomination as “the connection.” This concept has been central to Methodism from its beginning. The United Methodist structure and organization began as a means of accomplishing the mission of spreading scriptural holiness. Methodism’s founder, John Wesley, recognized the need for an organized system of communication and accountability and developed what he called the “connexion,” a network of classes, societies, and annual conferences.

Our Believe

United Methodist believes in the Bible God’s Word that all things can wither & fades; but the word of our God will stand forever” Isaiah 40:8 “

United Methodist believe and know that the Bible is ageless because of the great stories and events through which God spoke and still speaks to us by His Son through the writings of the prophets, and the apostles.{ Hebrew 1:1-2 }

United Methodist know that the Bible is ageless because through its great events that God reveled the purpose for which God made us and became flesh as He dwelt among us. {John 1:14}

Whereas United Methodist also believes that:

  • God is the ultimate Spirit-because He is the beginning and the end, “Alpha and Omega” {Revelation1:8.}
  • United Methodists believes in the unseen God who sustains us; “God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth” {John4:24}.
  • United Methodist believes that God is the ultimate Person in that God dies things, God creates, sustains, provides as God acts daily on our lives through His Son Jesus Christ. As Jesus said, “My Father is still working, and l also am working” {John 5:17}
  • United Methodist believes in supreme power but also in love. That God’s power is unfailing expression of love. Zechariah saw it when he spoke for God saying, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts” {Zechariah 4:6}
  • United Methodist believes in the Trinity- God is three in- one. {John 14:16}

The three Simple Rules teachings of United Methodist

The United Methodist Christians members observe in their Christian journey:

First: By doing no harm

How? By avoiding evil of every kind that which is generally practiced, such as:   Galatians5:15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.” KJV

  • The taking of the name of God in vain. Exo 20:1-
  • The profaning the day of the Lord, either by doing ordinary work therein or by buying or selling. Exo 34:14
  • Drunkenness: buying or selling spirituous liquors, or drinking them, unless in cases of extreme necessity.
  • Fighting, quarreling, brawling, brother going to law with brother; returning evil for evil, or railing for railing; the using many words in buying or selling. James 4:1-7
  • The buying or selling goods that have not paid the duty.
  • The Uncharitable or unprofitable conversation; speaking evil of magistrates or of ministers. 1Peter 2:13-15
  • Doing to others as we would not they should do unto us. Mtt 7:12

“Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionist, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Secondly: By doing good; 1 Peter 2:15

How? By being in every kind merciful to all men: 3Jn11b, Acts 10:38,

  • To physical needs, by giving food to the hungry, by clothing the naked, by visiting or helping them that are sick or in prison. Mtt 25:35-36
  • To their souls, by instructing, reproving, or exhorting all we have any intercourse with; trampling under foot that enthusiastic doctrine that we are not to do good unless our hearts be free to it.” 1st Tim4:15, 2nd Tim 2:14-15, 3:16
  • to them that are of the household of faith or groaning so to be; employing them preferably to others; buying one of another, helping each other in business, and so much the more because the world will love its own and them only. Mtt7:12, Acts 5:1-
  • By all possible diligence and frugality, that the gospel be not blamed. 1Peter 3:13.

All who desire to continue in these societies should continue to evidence their desire of salvation, 1 Peter 3:12

Thirdly: Stay in Love with God:

How? ”By attending upon all the ordinances of God”; such are: Ps 105:4

  • The public worship of God. 1st Tim 2:1-4
  • The ministry of the Word either read or expounded. Nehemiah 8:1-6
  • The Supper of the Lord. Mtt 26:26b-30, Mk14:17-24,Lk22:14-30,Jn13:21-30
  • Family and private prayer. Mk 1:35, 1st Tim 2:8, Mtt 14:23,7;7b,9:37-38
  • Searching the Scriptures. 1st Tim 4:13, 2Tim3:15-17
  • Fasting or abstinence. Neh 1:4, Mk 9:17-29, Lk9:38-42, Mtt 17:14-21
